Speaking of Kompakt, we fire up the B: side from the uber-brilliant Maxime Dangles Speicher 59 release - possibly the best EP of the year. Lord Bass destroys another French pronunciacion by playing Yelle. And the remix train this week does its treats to Mathew Johnson, The Energies, and Electrostatic. Enjoy this techno goodness.

Lord Bass went music shopping and came home with some new goodies. Oh yum. Try out the Spektre, Trentemoller, Peter Grummich, and Maxime Dangles. Yes, Dangles sounds rude, but this may be the hottest new floorburner in the last few years. Kompakt may not be at their 2005-levels of quality, but this track is hot! Somebody is still paying attention.

A couple of other ultra favorites in there too. The YMC is near eight years old, but sounds more fresh than a lot of new music today. Picture a ride in a Saab convertible at 11pm on a Swedish country road on summer solstice night.

Hi Mates. Just a note to say no Trance Lab for the weeks of February 25 or March 3. Our staff [of one] was super ill and on the ropes this past Monday night and couldn't make it to radio for a show. Then our staff [still of one] is hopping a plane to a distant city next week and will be away for the 3/3 show.

We're back on 3/10. Promise. Hang in there. Winter is almost over. Only 99 inches of snow to come. Says the groundhog. Blasted thing.

Our formula is repeated across the country - we live in a small town area, always dreaming of the big-city parties. So we threw one of our own at the Portsmouth Elks Lodge in nearby Portsmouth, NH. The North By Norther party featured sets from local faves Alex, Landau, Bruce, Kinetic, and Lord Bass [yours truly *bows*].

Mine was the headlining set from 11p-12m. The house set ablaze. Heads nodded. Old friends reunited. Bodies moved. Neighbors called to complain about noise. Even C&C Music Factory would have approved. Mission accomplished.

How can such a dynamic year of techno be shoved into two simple hours? It can't, but we hope our year-end review touches on one or two of your likes from the year.

LCD Soundsystem delivered a solid sophomore album, French techno absolutely stormed the world with long awaited discs from Justice, Simian Mobile Disco, Digitalism, Teenage Bad Girl, and more [some of them only sound French].

Locals proved their worthiness on Beats On The Rocks Vol. II, Ulrich Schauss popped out of his synth ocean, Underworld rocked US cities in the fall, and Gus Gus still has it after a dozen years and as many members. Enjoy.
