Rally Legend Colin McRae Dead At 39

WRC rally legend Colin McRae died Saturday, September 15, 2007 in a Scotland helicopter crash. He was piloting at the time. Three others also killed, including his five year old son.

I've been fan of rally and Subarus as long as I've known about each - a long time indeed. This man brought them together in a way I'll never forget. Colin's driving style was so fearless, absolutely stunning to watch on TV. See the dramatic crash that took him and Nicky Grist out of 2001's Rally GB, ending their bid for the season title.

The quotes I remember always make me laugh:

"They're not mine" - coyly replied when asked about the fit of his Citroen trousers when filling in the for the injured Sebastian Loeb at the 2006 Rally of Turkey.

"Why don't you ask the Welsch wizard?" - About co-driver Grist when asked about rocky times in the car during the 2001 season.

Lord Bass and the Trance Lab will always remember you guys:
Colin McRae
Richard Burns
Possum Bourne
Mark Lovell & Roger Freeman
..miss you chaps.

There'll never be anything like Colin at the wheel with Nicky's voice as the guide:
